Associated Content reported that the delay of Kelly Clarkson' album was caused by the company restructuring at Sony Music with the former Universal Music Group chairman Doug Morris entering as its new CEO.

It was also reported that Morris will oversee all the future music releases of Sony Music from July 2011 beginning with Clarkson.

Kelly Clarkson performed "What Hurts the Most", with Rascal Flatts, at ACM Awards in 2006 and returned again to sing a duet with Reba McEntire in 2007. This was her second performance on a country music award show, even though she is in the pop/rock genre. Along with her performance with Rascal Flatts, Clarkson also performed "Cigarettes", with the country duo The Wreckers during one of their shows in Texas.

Building on her country music status, Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire who first met after Clarkson won the first season of American Idol recorded an hour-long CMT Crossroads special at Nashville's famed Ryman Auditorium on February 22, 2007. It aired on CMT and Palladia (then known as MHD) on June 24, 2007. Previously, Kelly Clarkson was a performer on CMT's Giants: Reba McEntire. where she sang McEntire's hit song "Why Haven't I Heard From You", introduced Dolly Parton, and later also sang Reba's hit "Does He Love You" with Martina McBride. Clarkson also appeared on an episode of McEntire's sitcom Reba, that aired on January 14, 2007.

At the Academy of Country Music Awards on May 16, 2007, Clarkson and McEntire sang a duet of Clarkson's own 2005 single, "Because of You", which also became the lead single from McEntire's album of all-star duets. The music video for this version of the song later debuted on June 20, 2007. * The final show in St. Paul, Minnesota on April 16, 2004, featured the acoustic performance of a new song entitled "Don't", written by Kelly Clarkson and her band's lead guitarist Danny Weissfeld during the tour. "Don't" also became a part of the regular set list throughout the Breakaway Tour.
* Two rodeo concerts in Texas were without Clay Aiken as a co-headliner. March 16th was with Hilary Duff and March 17th was with Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson.
* The March 19th show in Grand Prairie, Texas featured Tamyra Gray performing the duet "You Thought Wrong" with Kelly. This was a duet between Clarkson and Gray on Clarkson's Thankful album.

She headed to the British Isles beginning February 17, 2006 in Manchester, United Kingdom, after which she toured Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Austria.
The two Tel Aviv, Israel dates scheduled for March 26th and 27th were cancelled due to Kelly's Laryngitis.
* Clarkson returned to "Crimson and Clover" until the 5th date at Cardiff for Cheap Trick classic I Want You to Want Me for 2 dates, whilst switching it again to AC/DC classic You Shook Me All Night Long which was also played as staple intro for all her shows, for London and Manchester. The Addicted Tour is the seventh concert tour by American singer-songwriter Kelly Clarkson, and supports Clarkson's second studio album, Breakaway. It was a 24-city North American tour, starting on June 30 2006 and finishing on August 6 2006. During this tour, Clarkson included a soulful, beat-heavy rendition of Marc Broussard's song "Home," as well as a touching cover of Ray Lamontagne's "Shelter." In 7th grade, a teacher (Mrs. Cynthia Glenn) overheard Clarkson's singing in a hallway and asked Clarkson to audition for the school choir. She told the teacher that Clarkson had never received professional vocal training.

In high school, Kelly Clarkson performed in musicals such as Annie Get Your Gun, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Brigadoon. Around this time, she decided to pursue singing. Clarkson sang at her high school talent show, after which a gentleman shared some inspiring words with her: "God has given you this gift. You've got to sing. You're destined to sing."
